Delivery and analytics

What delivered, clicked, failed and skipped mean, how card results are counted, and what the Return view shows.

Push counts

Count Meaning
Delivered Apple accepted the push for that device.
Clicked The person opened the push, and the SDK reported it.
Failed Apple refused the push for that device.
Skipped The device was not sent to. A Subscription ID that matched no subscribed install. A device with no time zone is not sent to in a local-time send, and it is not counted as skipped.

Delivered means Apple accepted the push. It does not mean the person saw it.

When Apple reports that a device token is no longer valid, Xulo marks that install as not subscribed.

A click is counted when the tap reaches Xulo.didReceive(userInfo:). If your app has its own notification delegate that handles taps, call it from there. See Initialize.

In the dashboard, a sent push opens its report with Delivered, Clicked, Click rate and Failed. The Delivered column in the push list counts the devices Apple accepted for that message. Test sends are left out of the list: a send from the composer's Test devices window is not saved, and a sent push whose audience is Test devices is not listed.

The REST API returns the same counts for one send. See Notification stats.

In-app card counts

Each card counts impressions, dismissals and button clicks. Its report in the dashboard shows them as Shown, Dismissed, Clicked and Click rate. The SDK keeps them on the device and sends them in the background, or with the next card request. The server does not count the same event twice.

Return

The Analytics page shows Return. For the devices first seen on a given day, it shows the share that opened the app again on day 1, day 7 and day 30. The table covers devices first seen in the last 14 days, and a day that has not come yet shows —.

Return is built from opens. It is not session length, it is not a custom event, and it is not a list of people.

Monthly active users

A monthly active user is a device that opened the app in the last 30 days. Push permission is not required. Each app counts its own, and the bill uses this count. In-app impressions are not billed.
